About me
Alexandra Meckl graduated in Journalism (2010) and Computer Science (2012) and later earned a master’s degree in Anglophone Literatures and Cultures at the University of Vienna (2023), with a thesis on animal exploitation in contemporary Anglophone science fiction. Her published work includes short prose and novel excerpts in the magazines Familia, Matca Literară, Vatra, Nesemnate, Clivaj, Lumi Posibile, P(RO)EZIA, Planeta Babel, EgoPHobia, Revista de Povestiri, Liternautica, Opt Motive, Revista Strîmbă, Revista Golan and Literomania. She left programming behind to devote herself to writing. At present, her interests lie in narratives that reflect the ethical contradictions of the human world. She adores pigeons and divides her time between Vienna and Miercurea-Ciuc, without believing that the choice has to be final. Her short-prose debut came in 2026 with the collection Animalul Omega (The Omega Animal), published by FrACTalia Press in Bucharest. In addition, she was selected to pitch her completed novel Laborator experimental al începutului lumii (Experimental Laboratory of the World’s Beginning) at the 2026 International Literary Rights Festival (NOD), following a manuscript competition.
